Iggy Pop turns 60

April 21st, 2007 at The Warfield in San Francisco, CA.

I snuck in my little p&s camera and took as many photos as possible without flash… The guy has so much energy and he never stops moving. It made shooting fairly difficult but I got a decent set out of it, and had a lot of fun.

New Alcatraz TTV photos…

I am slowly but surely post-processing my hundreds of photos from Alcatraz. My post processing involves straightening, then cropping to a square and a little saturation, contrast adjustment. It takes a while, but I do have a few to share…

Comments are appreciated. :)

TTV through Alcatraz - (original post Jan. 4)

So we set off for Alcatraz today. Caught the Ferry at 12:45 and sailed onto the big Rock. I took my new camera, all the lenses and MY BOOT.

I TTV’d (shot “Through the viewfinder”) all through Alcatraz with people staring at me like I was carrying a bomb… Never have I caused more attention than carrying a large electrical taped boot shaped THING with a little lense poking out.
Mike took these of me taking shots…

Only one guy asked me what it was. A guard asked me also and she ended up taking the four of us up into the gun tower… A secret place above it all. We got to see the chapel, still all strewn about with grafitti and wood, and broken windows from the indian “occupation”… She was very cool. I got to snap photos from high above everyone, and in secret corridors, and in the chapel. Quite a killer day for photographs. I took 279 of them and will take a couple of days cropping, editing and then I’ll show some off.
The kids had fun for a while, then they got bored… We did our own little wandering tour and headed back home. All in all a fun day.

2nd saturday - photo album

January 2007 Second Saturday

Just a few fun photos taken out and about on Saturday night. The first spot was “Phoenix gallery” to say hello to the boys, next was “the Body tribe” for the Ave’s exhibition and then we ended up at Gale Hart’s studio for the “a bitchin’ space” show…

Oh geez, it’s been a while… UPDATES

The kids have been sick but somehow Mike and I managed to create new pieces for “AVES” an exhibit to celebrate birds in art and create awareness for the plight of birds. It is on going until next month’s Second Saturday. There are FABULOUS pieces in the show. It is at “the Body Tribe” in downtown Sacramento. I suggest you stop in and say hello, and then take a peek around. “WOW!” was the first thing I thought when I walked in. Great artists and great art.

I have been sick for a couple of days. It has thrown my creativity off… I only did a bit of editing on photos and then slept all day. I can’t seem to get organzied at the moment, so when something else exciting happens I’ll let you know. :)

Kids with sharpies - Collaboration Day!

So, the kids are home from school today. What am I to do so I can clean the house and keep them busy? Why I gave them two of my pieces of art and let them draw all over them… Two pieces of art that I had in shows in previous years. One was priced at $800… But it was of the old city cemetary. Not a big draw for art collectors to hang in there house. Or maybe just not the art collectors here in Sacramento. Anyhow, pricing is just for Galleries… My art has no real value when it is sitting in my home taking up space. Unless of course it is sentimental. So anyhow, back to the collaborations being created as we speak. The kids are loving it. They are thrilled. They have both grown up around the gallery scene and quite aware of what collaborations are and sculpture and what good art is to them. They have been at it for over an hour and half so far. It is so much fun to hear them discuss what they are doing and the imagination taking over… To only have the freedom of thought of a 7 year old and a 5 year old… It is never ending fantasy time, new worlds and situations to explore. All being put to use on my old boring paintings… Here are some photos so far.
